Nuts
Cobtree Farm is located in the foothills of the Tararua Mountains close to  "Sunny Otaki". The farm focuses on breeding alpacas, growing nut trees and providing superior accommodation for people who enjoy experiencing rural life.  Hosts Brenda Farrell and Fred Davey endeavour to make guests stay as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible on about 12 acres of landscaped garden, orchard and fenced paddocks. Children are fascinated with the gentle alpacas and love to feed them by hand.  Two small very spoilt dogs are part of the household, earning their keep by letting us know when someone comes up the drive. Sheep, ducks, geese, Guinea fowl and a canary complete the menagerie of domestic animals, but there is an abundance of wildlife which changes with the season.
Local Sights and Activities

Sunny Otaki usually lives up to its name.  There are many enjoyable pursuits to be found in the area.  Canoeing on the Otaki river, walking from Otaki Forks into the Tararuas, swimming at the beach or shopping in the many outlet shops that line State Highway 1 to name the most popular.  There is a miniature railway village open at weekends and public holidays during the summer just north of Otaki and a model railway for children to ride on at Raumati beach.  The windmill at Foxton is worth a visit as is the Southwards Car  Museum at Paraparaumu. Wellington is only an hours drive, and of course Te Papa, the New Zealand National Museum, is a must see in Wellington.
